- Bizen Nishiki was entered in the Yayoi Sho, the trial race for Satsuki Sho, with a record of 4 wins from 4 starts with Yukio Okabe riding.
Here, one choice by Yukio Okabe caught attention.
Okabe said, “Please consider my choice to be the stronger one,” and chose Symboli Rudolf, who had three wins in three races, instead of Bizen Nishiki.
Bizen Nishiki’s owner was furious at Okabe and would not let him ride any of his horses after that. - In the Hichi Hai Yayoi Sho, he was 1st favorite.
Symboli Rudolf was 2nd favorite.
Bizen Nishiki was delayed at the start of the race.
