In the Tokyo Yushun (Japanese Derby), it was an interval of 2 weeks for him.
He was 1st favorite because Captain Thule who won the Satsuki Sho was absent.
He came from behind again.
He overtook 13 horses in the home stretch.
He became a derby horse.
Hirofumi Shii become a derby jockey for the second year in a row, following his ride on Vodka the year before.
In the Kobe Shinbun Hai, he ran in the middle group.
He barely won.
After the race, his connections decided to avoid the 3000m race Kikuka Sho and head to the 2000m race Tenno Sho.
In the Tenno Sho (Autumn), it was a first race for him to run with older horses.
Vodka, Daiwa Scarlet and he were top 3 favorite horses.
He lost to Vodka and Daiwa Scarlet by neck. (winner: Vodka)
After that, he lost to Vodka, Dream Journey and Screen Hero.
He could not beat the older horses.
He retired due to an injury.

Episode

Shii said of Deep Sky, “He’s a very calm nature for a thoroughbred. I think he’s been cared for by the people at the farm, so he trusts human.”
Maybe it was his calm nature that caused him to lose so many close races, even though he ran well.

As sire

He was expected because his sire Agnes Tachyon died suddenly.
But his crops are not very successful.
But the number of horses that are active in dirt racing is slowly increasing.
