  • The Top Three BNW (Biwa Hayahide, Narita Taishin, Winning Ticket) played an active role in the classic races.
  • Vega won the Double Crown for fillies.
  • Mejiro McQueen tried to win three straight Tenno Sho (Spring) titles, but lost to Rice Shower.
  • Tokai Teio won the Arima Kinen in his first run in a year.
    It was called such as “the Miracle Revival / the Miracle Comeback” as well as the Arima Kinen (1990) of Oguri Cap.
    It was the race that is often talked about as the famous race of Arima Kinen and Japanese horse racing.
  • Yamanin Zephyr played an active role, but was not chosen for the JRA Award for Horse of the Year.
  • Real Shadai won the JRA Leading Sire instead of Northern Taste who won them eleven years in a row.
  • Brian’s Time’s first crops debuted.
    Narita Brian won the Asahi Hai Sansai Stakes and the JRA award for Best Two-Year-Old Colt.
