However Mayano Top Gun came from behind and passed other horses including them.
After all Mayano Top Gun was 1st, Sakura Laurel was 2nd and Marvelous Sunday was 3rd.
The race was said to be one of the best races in the history of the Tenno Sho. - In the Takarazuka Kinen, he was 1st favorite because Sakura Laurel and Mayano Top Gun didn’t enter for the race.
He defeated Bobble Gum Fellow and won by neck.
It was his first and only G1 win. - In the Arima Kinen (1997), he was 1st favorite.
Sakura Laurel and Mayano Top Gun retired due to injuries.
His jockey Yutaka Take chose him instead of Air Groove.
He passed Air Groove and was about to finish in 1st place.
But he was passed by Silk Justice just before the finish-line. - He was lacking in abilities compared to Sakura Laurel and Mayano Top Gun.
He was awarded the JRA Award for Best Older Male Horse (1997).
