- He had a lot of promise when he was a two and three year old, but due to back pain, he couldn’t race much.
- In 1994 (age 4), he won two grade-races, the Nakayama Kinen and Keio Hai Autumn Handicap.
But in G1 races, he’s finished sixth three times. - In the Yasuda Kinen, he was 1st favorite.
He lost to a foreign horse, Heart Lake by a nose. - Before the Tenno Sho (autumn 1995), his jockey, Futoshi Kojima, announced that he would be retiring to become a trainer.
Sakura Group, which used him as their main jockey, wanted him to win a G1 race before he retired. - In the Tenno Sho (autumn 1995), he was 2nd favorite.
Narita Brian returned from injury and was 1st favorite, but he was no longer far from his top form.
Sakura Chitose O was at the back of the pack.
He came from behind in the home stretch.
He passed Genuine just before the finish-line.
It was his first G1 win. - Two weeks after the Tenno Sho (autumn 1995), his sister, Sakura Candle, won the
Queen Elizabeth II Cup (G1).
That brother and sister adorned the last days of Kojima’s jockeying career brilliantly. - In the Arima Kinen (1995), he was 4th favorite.
He showed a good finishing kick and finished 3rd.
It was Kojima’s final G1 race.
