- He won the Tokyo Sports Hai Nisai Stakes and the Hochi Hai Yayoi Sho.
He was considered one of the best horses of his age, and was expected to win the classic races. - In the Satsuki Sho, the first classic race, he was 1st favorite.
He lost to Duramente and finished 6th. - He was also beaten by Duramente in the next Derby, finishing 3rd.
He didn’t have good results in G1 races for a while after that. - In the Hong Kong Vase, he was 4th favorite.
Highland Reel (IRL) was by far the most favorite.
On the homestretch, Highland Reel pulled further and further away from the horses behind him.
Satono Crown was the only one to follow Highland Reel and overtook him just before the finish line.
It was his first G1 win. - In the Takarazuka Kinen (2017), he was 1st favorite.
He defeated Kitasan Black, Gold Actor, Mikki Queen and the others.
It was his first G1 victory in Japan. - In the Tenno Sho (Autumn 2017), he was 2nd favorite.
The Track condition was soft and very very bad.
He lost to Kitasan Black by a neck.
The finishing time was the slowest in the history of Tenno Sho (Autumn). - He could not run well after that.
Some people say it was due to the damage caused by the bad condition of Tenno Sho (Autumn 2017), but we don’t know the facts.
As a sire
- He has a rare pedigree in Japan, so there was a good demand for him and he sired over 200 horses in his first year.
- Tastiera won the Tokyo Yushun (Japanese Derby).
Satono Crown has produced a Derby horse in his first year.
